- Live radarRain, snow and storms worldwide from a global radar mosaic, plus US NEXRAD base and composite reflectivity.
- Single-site DopplerOpen any of 336 radar stations (US NEXRAD and TDWR, European OPERA) for close-up reflectivity at the lowest tilt.
- Future radarThe loop runs past “now” to show where rain and storms are heading, with short-range forecast maps beyond that.
- LightningSee where thunderstorms are producing lightning and where it’s forecast next.
- HurricanesActive hurricanes and tropical storms are marked on the map as they move.
- Severe weatherStorm Prediction Center outlooks, watches and mesoscale discussions, and NWS warnings on the map.
- SatelliteCloud cover from weather satellites, day and night.
- Forecast mapsTemperature, wind, feels-like and air quality for the days ahead.
How to read the radar colours
Radar measures how much rain, snow or hail is in the air (reflectivity, in dBZ). Brighter, warmer colours mean heavier precipitation.
- Green
- Light rain or snow
- Yellow
- Moderate rain
- Orange
- Heavy rain, storms likely
- Red
- Very heavy rain, strong storms
- Magenta / purple
- Extreme rain, likely hail

Weather radar questions
Is the WeatherScope radar free?
Yes. The live radar on this page and on the full-screen map is free in your browser, with no app or sign-up needed. WeatherScope Premium adds extra radar products (such as velocity and higher tilts on single-site Doppler radar), more forecast days and an ad-free site.
How often does the radar update?
Every few minutes. The map plays the latest scans as a loop, so you can see which way rain and storms are moving; press pause and drag the timeline to look at a single moment.
What is future radar?
Future radar continues the loop past "now" with a short-range forecast of where rain, snow and storms are heading over the next hour or so. It is a forecast, so it gets less certain the further ahead it goes.
What is the difference between composite and single-site radar?
Composite (mosaic) radar blends many radar stations into one smooth national map. Single-site radar shows one Doppler station at a time, with more detail close to that station and extra products such as wind velocity.
Does the radar show snow and hail?
Yes. The radar sees all falling precipitation: light echoes are usually drizzle or snow, and the brightest reds, magentas and purples point to very heavy rain or hail inside thunderstorms.
Can I put this radar on my website?
Yes. Use the free embed builder at weatherscope.com/embed to copy a live radar map for any location and layer into your own site.
