Canada is the world's second-largest country by area and experiences some of the most extreme weather on the planet. Winters are legendary, with temperatures plunging below -40°C in the Prairie provinces and northern territories. Heavy snowfall blankets much of the country from November through March, while coastal British Columbia enjoys milder, rainier winters thanks to Pacific maritime influences.

Summer brings a dramatic transformation, with long daylight hours and temperatures that can reach 35°C or higher in southern Ontario and the interior of British Columbia. The Prairies are susceptible to severe thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes, while the Atlantic provinces face the tail end of tropical storms and hurricanes during fall. The Great Lakes region creates its own weather patterns, including intense lake-effect snowstorms that can dump over a meter of snow in a single event.

From the temperate rainforests of Vancouver Island to the frozen expanses of Nunavut, Canada's weather diversity is remarkable. Cities like Toronto experience four distinct seasons, Calgary is known for dramatic chinook winds that can raise winter temperatures by 20°C in hours, and Montreal endures some of the heaviest urban snowfall of any major city in the world.
