Guatemala Weather Forecast
Live weather data for Guatemala powered by Weather Scope
Guatemala's climate is shaped by its dramatic topography, ranging from humid tropical lowlands along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts to cooler highland plateaus above 1,500 meters. The capital, Guatemala City, sits at an elevation of roughly 1,500 meters and enjoys a mild spring-like climate year-round with average temperatures between 16°C and 25°C.
The rainy season runs from May through October, with a brief dry spell known as the canícula in July or August. The dry season from November to April brings sunny skies and lower humidity. Annual rainfall varies widely, with Caribbean-facing slopes receiving over 3,000 mm while parts of the eastern highlands remain comparatively dry.
Guatemala lies within the hurricane belt, and tropical storms from both the Caribbean and Pacific can deliver catastrophic rainfall. The country's volcanic highlands are also prone to orographic thunderstorms that develop rapidly in the afternoon.
