Cambodia Weather Forecast
Live weather data for Cambodia powered by Weather Scope
Cambodia has a tropical climate with consistently warm temperatures averaging 25°C to 35°C throughout the year. The country's relatively flat terrain, dominated by the central lowland plain surrounding Tonle Sap lake, means that temperature variation across the country is minimal compared to its more mountainous neighbors.
The southwest monsoon from May to October brings the wet season, during which Cambodia receives the vast majority of its 1,000 to 1,500 mm of annual rainfall. The dry season from November to April is dominated by the northeast monsoon, bringing drier air and slightly cooler temperatures, particularly in December and January when nighttime lows can dip below 20°C.
Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, plays a unique role in Cambodia's hydrology and weather patterns. During the monsoon, the Mekong River reverses the flow of the Tonle Sap River, causing the lake to expand from 2,500 to over 16,000 square kilometers. The Cardamom Mountains in the southwest receive the heaviest rainfall and support dense tropical rainforest distinct from the drier central plains.
