Saint Kitts and Nevis is a small two-island federation in the northern Leeward Islands with a tropical climate tempered by steady trade winds. Coastal temperatures average 25°C to 30°C year-round. Mount Liamuiga on Saint Kitts rises to 1,156 meters.

The dry season from December to April brings warm, sunny weather. The wet season from July to November delivers heavier tropical showers. Annual rainfall varies from about 1,000 mm on the drier southeast peninsula to over 3,500 mm on the upper slopes.

The islands sit within the Atlantic hurricane corridor. Nevis Peak at 985 meters often develops its own cap cloud, a reliable local indicator of moisture levels and approaching weather changes.
