Tlaxcala Weather Forecast

Tlaxcala is Mexico's smallest state and sits on the central highland plateau at elevations between 2,200 and 2,600 meters, giving it a cool temperate climate. The capital averages about 15°C annually with pleasant days and cool nights, and the volcanic peak of La Malinche at 4,461 meters dominates the state's eastern skyline.

Annual rainfall ranges from 600 to 800mm, concentrated in the May-October rainy season when afternoon thunderstorms sweep across the plateau. The state's proximity to the Puebla-Tlaxcala industrial corridor means air quality can be affected during temperature inversions, similar to nearby Mexico City.

Winter frost is common across the state from November through February, affecting agriculture and sometimes damaging the important alfalfa and barley crops. La Malinche receives seasonal snowfall above 4,000 meters and generates its own localized weather patterns, including orographic clouds and enhanced precipitation on its eastern slopes facing the Gulf moisture source.
