Guyana Weather Forecast

Guyana lies on the northeastern coast of South America and has a tropical equatorial climate with high temperatures and humidity year-round. Georgetown averages 26°C to 31°C with persistent trade winds providing some relief.

Guyana has two distinct wet seasons: a primary one from May to July and a secondary one from November to January. The coastal plain, much of which lies below sea level, receives about 2,300 mm of rain annually.

Coastal flooding is a persistent threat in Guyana, as much of the inhabited coastline relies on a centuries-old sea wall and drainage system. Guyana sits south of the main hurricane belt and is rarely affected by tropical cyclones.
