Guerrero climate

Guerrero features a tropical climate along its Pacific coastline, where Acapulco averages 28°C year-round with high humidity, and a more temperate climate in the mountainous interior. The Sierra Madre del Sur creates dramatic elevation changes that produce diverse microclimates across the state.

The rainy season from June through October is particularly intense in Guerrero, with some mountain areas receiving over 2,000mm of annual rainfall. The state is one of the most hurricane-prone in Mexico, lying directly in the path of Eastern Pacific tropical cyclones that regularly impact the coast.

Acapulco's coastal climate is characterized by consistently hot, humid conditions with sea breezes providing some relief. The interior mountain city of Chilpancingo at 1,250 meters is significantly cooler and experiences dramatic afternoon thunderstorms during the wet season that can trigger dangerous mudslides on deforested slopes.
