Costa Rica climate
Costa Rica's climate is remarkably diverse for such a small country, ranging from tropical lowlands on both coasts to cool cloud forests in the central highlands. San José enjoys perpetual spring-like temperatures averaging 20°C to 26°C.
The dry season spans December to April on the Pacific side, bringing blue skies and warm weather. The green season from May to November delivers daily afternoon showers. The Caribbean coast follows a different pattern, receiving rain year-round.
Costa Rica's mountainous spine creates a sharp divide between Pacific and Caribbean weather systems. The Osa Peninsula is one of the wettest regions, receiving up to 5,000 mm of rain annually.
