Albania climate

Albania's climate is predominantly Mediterranean along its coastline, transitioning to a harsh continental climate in the mountainous eastern interior. Tirana enjoys warm, dry summers with temperatures of 30-34°C and mild, wet winters.

The country is one of the wettest in Europe, with some northern mountain areas receiving over 3,000mm annually. The contrast between the sun-baked Riviera coastline and snow-capped peaks of the Accursed Mountains is striking.

Autumn storms can be particularly violent along the coast. The southern coast around Sarandë enjoys the mildest winter temperatures, while highland Korçë regularly sees -15°C in January.
