Baja California Sur Weather Forecast
Live weather data for Baja California Sur powered by Weather Scope
Baja California Sur has a hot desert climate across most of its territory, with extremely low annual rainfall averaging under 200mm. The state is one of the sunniest places in Mexico, receiving over 300 days of sunshine per year with summer highs regularly reaching 40°C in La Paz.
Hurricane season from June through November is the primary weather concern, as the state sits directly in the path of Eastern Pacific tropical cyclones. Major hurricanes have struck the peninsula with devastating force, including Category 4 Hurricane Odile in 2014.
The Sea of Cortez side tends to be warmer and calmer than the Pacific coast, which benefits from upwelling cold currents. Winter months are the most pleasant with daytime temperatures around 24-28°C, making it a popular destination for escaping colder climates to the north.
