Liberia has a hot, humid tropical climate with one of the highest rainfall totals in West Africa. Monrovia receives approximately 5,100mm of rain annually, making it one of the wettest capital cities in the world, with the peak months of June and July each delivering over 900mm. The rainy season extends from May to October, with a brief reduction in July sometimes called the "mid-dry" period, though significant rainfall still occurs.
