Armenia Weather Forecast

Live weather data for Armenia powered by Weather Scope

Armenia is a highland country situated on the Armenian Plateau with an average elevation of 1,800 meters, giving it a continental highland climate with significant temperature variation between seasons. Yerevan in the Ararat Valley experiences hot, dry summers with temperatures reaching 40°C and cold winters dropping to -15°C, with the iconic Mount Ararat providing a dramatic snow-capped backdrop.

Precipitation varies greatly with altitude and aspect, ranging from 250 mm in the Ararat Valley rain shadow to over 800 mm on the forested slopes of the Lesser Caucasus in the north. Most rainfall occurs in spring from April to June, while summers and late autumn are predominantly dry. Winter snowfall is significant in the mountains but modest in the lower valleys.

Lake Sevan at 1,900 meters elevation is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world and significantly moderates the local climate of the Gegharkunik region. The Ararat Valley floor is Armenia's warmest zone and supports viticulture and stone fruit orchards irrigated by snowmelt, while the Syunik highlands in the south experience some of the country's harshest winter conditions with deep snow cover lasting from November through April.
