Hidalgo Weather Radar
Live radar for Hidalgo powered by Weather Scope
Hidalgo has a remarkably diverse climate for its size, ranging from the cool, windy highlands of Pachuca at 2,400 meters to the hot, humid lowlands of the Huasteca region in the northeast. Pachuca is famously nicknamed "La Bella Airosa" (The Windy Beauty) for its persistent strong winds.
The Huasteca Hidalguense receives over 2,000mm of annual rainfall and features lush tropical vegetation, while the semi-arid Mezquital Valley in the center gets less than 400mm. Cloud forests in the Sierra Madre Oriental maintain near-constant moisture from Pacific and Gulf air masses.
Winter cold fronts regularly affect the state, bringing freezing temperatures and occasional frost to the highland areas. The combination of high elevation and persistent winds makes Pachuca one of the cooler state capitals in Mexico, with average temperatures around 15°C and winter nights frequently dropping below 5°C.
