New Hampshire Weather Forecast

New Hampshire has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm summers that vary significantly with elevation. The White Mountains in the northern part of the state create extreme weather conditions, with Mount Washington holding the world record for directly measured wind speed at 231 mph. Concord, in the Merrimack Valley, receives about 37 inches of rain and 60 inches of snow annually.

Nor'easters are the primary severe weather threat, capable of depositing several feet of snow and producing damaging winds. The White Mountains are known for some of the most severe weather in the eastern United States, with sudden storms, extreme cold, and fierce winds creating treacherous conditions for hikers and climbers. The summit of Mount Washington experiences hurricane-force winds on average 110 days per year.

New Hampshire's fall foliage season is among the most spectacular in New England, drawing millions of visitors to witness the vibrant colors from late September through mid-October. Summers are pleasant in the valleys with temperatures in the 70s and 80s, while mountain areas remain significantly cooler. The state's numerous lakes, including Lake Winnipesaukee, help moderate nearby temperatures and create popular recreational areas.
