Kuwait Weather Forecast
Live weather data for Kuwait powered by Weather Scope
Kuwait has one of the most extreme hot desert climates of any country, with summer temperatures that regularly exceed 50°C and have reached as high as 54°C, placing it among the hottest recorded temperatures on Earth. The small nation is almost entirely flat desert with no mountains or significant elevation changes to moderate the relentless heat. From May through September, outdoor conditions are genuinely dangerous, with the combination of extreme heat and occasional Persian Gulf humidity creating life-threatening heat index values.
Winter from November through February is the only comfortable season, with daytime temperatures between 15°C and 22°C and cool nights that can occasionally drop near freezing in the desert interior. Rainfall is extremely scarce, averaging about 115mm per year, almost entirely confined to the winter months. When rain does occur, it can be surprisingly heavy, overwhelming the flat terrain and causing widespread flooding in urban areas that lack adequate drainage infrastructure.
Kuwait City experiences the full brunt of the desert climate, with frequent dust storms that reduce visibility and coat everything in fine sand, particularly during the transitional months when shamal winds blow from the northwest. The Persian Gulf coast provides marginal temperature relief but adds humidity that exacerbates the summer heat. Spring brings the most frequent dust events, while autumn offers a gradual and welcome cooling after the brutal summer months.
