Trinidad and Tobago sits at the southern end of the Caribbean island chain, just 11 kilometers off the coast of Venezuela. The twin-island nation has a tropical maritime climate with average temperatures between 26°C and 33°C. Its southern latitude places it outside the main hurricane belt.
The wet season runs from June to December, with peak rainfall in July and November. The dry season from January to May brings warmer temperatures and clearer skies.
Trinidad's Northern Range creates orographic rainfall and supports lush tropical rainforest, while the western and southern lowlands are drier. Tobago receives more consistent trade wind exposure and has a slightly drier climate.
