Nayarit Weather Radar

Live radar for Nayarit powered by Weather Scope

Nayarit features a warm tropical climate along its Pacific coast and a cooler temperate climate in the Sierra Madre Occidental highlands. The capital Tepic at 920 meters elevation has a humid subtropical climate with temperatures averaging 21°C and a pronounced wet season that makes it one of the rainier highland cities in western Mexico.

The coastal resort areas around Nuevo Vallarta and San Blas experience hot, humid conditions with summer temperatures above 32°C and intense monsoon rains from June through October. Annual rainfall along the coast reaches 1,200-1,500mm, supporting lush tropical vegetation and extensive mangrove ecosystems.

Nayarit is regularly affected by Eastern Pacific tropical cyclones, with the coast particularly vulnerable to storm surge and extreme rainfall. The Islas Marias archipelago offshore provides no barrier to incoming storms. The Sierra Nayarit highlands above 2,000 meters experience cool temperatures and occasional winter frost, contrasting sharply with the sweltering lowlands below.
