Haiti climate

Haiti occupies the western third of Hispaniola and has a tropical climate moderated by trade winds and mountainous terrain. Port-au-Prince experiences average temperatures between 25°C and 35°C with high humidity.

Haiti has two rainy seasons: a primary one from April to June and a secondary one from October to November. The northwest and parts of the central plateau lie in a rain shadow and are considerably drier.

Haiti is extremely vulnerable to hurricanes, which have caused devastating damage throughout the country's history. Deforestation has worsened the impact of heavy rainfall, leading to severe flooding and mudslides.
