Georgia Weather Radar

Live radar for Georgia powered by Weather Scope

Georgia's climate is remarkably diverse for its small size, shaped by the Greater Caucasus Mountains in the north and the Black Sea coast in the west. The Caucasus range acts as a barrier against cold Arctic air masses from the north, while the Black Sea provides moisture that sustains a humid subtropical climate along the western lowlands of Colchis.

Tbilisi in the eastern interior has a more continental climate with hot summers reaching 38°C and moderately cold winters around -2°C to 5°C. The western city of Batumi is one of the wettest places in the Caucasus region, receiving over 2,500 mm of rain annually, while eastern Georgia beyond the Likhi Range is significantly drier with 400-600 mm of annual precipitation.

The Greater Caucasus hosts Georgia's highest peaks above 5,000 meters, with extensive glaciation and alpine conditions that support world-class ski resorts. Svaneti and other mountain regions receive tremendous snowfall, often exceeding 3 meters at village elevations. The Colchis lowland along the Black Sea coast maintains a frost-free subtropical environment where tea, citrus, and even bamboo thrive year-round, creating a climatic contrast rarely found within such a compact geographic area.
