Brunei Weather Radar
Live radar for Brunei powered by Weather Scope
Brunei has an equatorial tropical climate with uniformly high temperatures, abundant rainfall, and intense humidity throughout the year. Located on the northern coast of Borneo, the small sultanate experiences average temperatures between 24°C and 32°C with very little seasonal variation, and relative humidity consistently exceeding 80%.
Rainfall is heavy and year-round, averaging 2,500-3,500 mm annually, with the wettest period during the northeast monsoon from November to February. Afternoon thunderstorms are a near-daily occurrence, often arriving with sudden intensity before clearing within an hour or two. The Temburong District's pristine rainforest interior receives even higher rainfall than the coastal lowlands.
Unlike many Southeast Asian nations, Brunei is rarely affected by tropical cyclones as it lies outside the main typhoon tracks. However, the northeast monsoon can bring periods of sustained heavy rainfall causing localized flooding in low-lying coastal areas. The South China Sea moderates temperature extremes, and Brunei's dense tropical rainforest, which covers over 70% of the country, contributes to the persistently high humidity and frequent convective rainfall that defines the local climate.
