Tabasco Weather Radar
Live radar for Tabasco powered by Weather Scope
Tabasco is the wettest state in Mexico, with annual rainfall averaging 2,000-2,500mm across its low-lying tropical terrain. Villahermosa, the capital, has a tropical rainforest climate with consistently hot temperatures averaging 27°C and humidity that rarely drops below 80%.
The state's flat, river-laced geography makes it extraordinarily vulnerable to flooding, as demonstrated by the catastrophic 2007 floods that submerged 80% of the state and displaced over a million people. Multiple major rivers including the Grijalva and Usumacinta converge in Tabasco before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico.
Rain falls throughout the year but is heaviest from June through November, when tropical systems and persistent Gulf moisture combine with orographic lifting from the nearby Chiapas highlands. Winter "nortes" bring overcast skies and cooler temperatures in the low 20s°C, providing brief respite from the otherwise relentless heat and humidity.
