Argentina climate
Argentina stretches over 3,400 kilometers from north to south, giving it one of the most diverse climate ranges of any country in the world. The subtropical north experiences sweltering summers with temperatures exceeding 40°C and heavy monsoonal rains, while Tierra del Fuego in the extreme south endures sub-Antarctic conditions with strong winds, frequent cloud cover, and summer temperatures that rarely exceed 14°C.
The Pampas grasslands surrounding Buenos Aires enjoy a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Summer (December-February) brings hot, humid conditions with powerful thunderstorms, while winter (June-August) is mild but occasionally punctuated by cold pampero winds from the south. The Andes mountains along the western border create one of the world's most dramatic rain shadows, with lush forests on the Chilean side and arid desert conditions in the Argentine rain shadow.
Buenos Aires experiences pleasant springs and autumns, hot summers with high humidity, and mild winters. Mendoza in the western foothills has a semi-arid climate ideal for wine production, with clear skies and dramatic temperature swings between day and night. Patagonia is defined by relentless winds, low temperatures, and the spectacular but harsh weather that shapes its dramatic landscapes of glaciers and steppe.
