Seychelles Weather Forecast
Live weather data for Seychelles powered by Weather Scope
The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands scattered across the western Indian Ocean, with a warm tropical maritime climate that remains pleasant year-round. The granitic inner islands, including Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue, sit outside the cyclone belt and enjoy one of the most benign tropical climates on Earth, with no cyclones, no extreme temperatures, and no prolonged droughts. Temperatures range narrowly between 24°C and 32°C, moderated by the surrounding ocean and steady trade winds.
Two monsoon seasons define the Seychelles' weather: the northwest monsoon from November to March brings warmer, calmer conditions with more frequent rain showers, while the southeast trade winds from May to September create drier, slightly cooler weather with choppier seas. The transition months of April and October tend to be the calmest and warmest. Rainfall varies from about 1,700mm annually on the coast to over 3,500mm in the mountainous interior of Mahe, where the Morne Seychellois peak at 905 meters catches passing clouds.
Victoria on the northeast coast of Mahe is one of the world's smallest capital cities, with a tropical climate averaging 27°C and humidity levels consistently above 75%. The outer coralline islands, including Aldabra Atoll, are hotter and drier than the granitic inner islands, with a more pronounced dry season. Praslin and La Digue have similar weather to Mahe but slightly less rainfall due to their lower elevations. Ocean temperatures remain a warm 26-29°C year-round, supporting the vibrant coral reefs and marine life that make the Seychelles a premier diving destination.
