Equatorial Guinea Weather Forecast

Live weather data for Equatorial Guinea powered by Weather Scope

Equatorial Guinea straddles the equator on the west coast of Central Africa, consisting of a mainland region (Rio Muni) and several volcanic islands in the Gulf of Guinea. The country has a typical equatorial climate with consistently high temperatures, extreme humidity, and abundant rainfall throughout the year. Annual precipitation exceeds 2,000mm across most of the country, with the island of Bioko receiving over 10,000mm on its southern slopes, making it one of the wettest places in Africa.

Temperatures remain remarkably consistent year-round, averaging 25-27°C, with only slight variations between the wetter and drier seasons. The mainland experiences a main dry season from December to February and a shorter one in July, though "dry" is relative in this equatorial setting, and rain can fall in any month. Dense tropical rainforest covers much of the country, supported by the constant moisture and warmth. The volcanic peak of Pico Basile on Bioko Island reaches 3,012 meters, creating cloud forest conditions at higher elevations.

Malabo, located on the northern coast of Bioko Island, has a tropical wet climate with average temperatures around 25°C and annual rainfall near 1,800mm, though the southern part of the island is dramatically wetter. Bata on the mainland coast is slightly drier with about 2,500mm of rainfall and warm, humid conditions year-round. The island of Annobon in the far south is the most isolated and has a maritime tropical climate with heavy rainfall. The coastal waters remain warm at 26-29°C, supporting rich marine ecosystems in the Gulf of Guinea.
