Coahuila Weather Radar
Live radar for Coahuila powered by Weather Scope
Coahuila has a predominantly arid to semi-arid climate with hot summers and cool winters across its vast desert terrain. The capital Saltillo, at 1,600 meters elevation, enjoys milder temperatures than the low-lying desert, averaging 18°C annually with summer highs around 32°C.
Rainfall is scarce across most of the state, averaging 300-400mm per year, with the bulk falling during summer monsoon thunderstorms from June to September. The northern Chihuahuan Desert portions receive as little as 150mm annually, creating one of Mexico's driest landscapes.
Winter cold fronts from the north can bring freezing temperatures and occasional snow to the higher elevations around Saltillo and the Sierra Madre Oriental. The industrial city of Monclova and the border region around Piedras Negras experience some of the most extreme temperature swings in Mexico, with summer highs exceeding 42°C and winter lows near -10°C.
